Two issues emerge as Rangers face huge outlay to sign Angus Gunn

Rangers may struggle to sign Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn this summer amid claims his asking price is now at around £10million.

The Gers are widely expected to bring in a new goalkeeper at the end of the season.

Allan McGregor is not only out of contract but he has already turned 41 and his career is winding down.

Jon McLaughlin isn’t the long-term solution and Robby McCrorie hasn’t really been given a chance.

A number of goalkeepers have already been linked and one of the top targets appears to be Angus Gunn.

The Sun reported in February that Norwich stopper Gunn is a top target for Rangers this summer.

The former Manchester City aace has committed his international future to Scotland and Rangers may hope he is tempted to head north of the border.

However, the £3million fee mentioned at the time doesn’t appear to be valid now.

Norwich City now want big money for Angus Gunn

Football Insider report that Norwich actually want somewhere in the region of triple that £3million suggestion.

It’s stated that Norwich want between £8million and £10million for Gunn if they are to sell this summer.

There is little chance of Rangers spending that kind of money on one player this summer.

Michael Beale needs a number of signings and splashing close to eight figures on a player just isn’t going to be in the Rangers plans.

A second issue is emerging for Rangers, in that sporting director Ross Wilson appeared to be driving the interest.

Wilson oversaw Gunn’s arrival at Southampton way back in 2018 and seemingly wanted to lure him to Rangers too.

Yet with Wilson now set to leave Rangers and take up a new role at Nottingham Forest, Gunn to Rangers seems to be losing steam.
