Rangers have been linked with too many players to mention over the last few seasons but one name that has repeatedly resurfaced has been Gustavo Hamer.
The Netherlands Under-21 international was first linked when Steven Gerrard was the Light Blues boss, however, this wasn’t the only time he was mentioned as a possible target.
Rangers needed fresh energy in midfield this summer and Gustavo Hamer would have been a perfect fit, other than for a price-tag that is now considerably out of our price range as reported by Mike McGrath of The Telegraph.

Rangers struggles revealed with Gustavo Hamer fee report
When Rangers were sniffing about, the price being quoted was around £4m, now, according to McGrath, Sheffield United are paying in the region of £15m for the Coventry City man with BBC Sport confirming the deal.
Similar to Jose Cifuentes, Hamer can be used in a variety of roles from being a mobile defensive midfielder to a box-to-box influence in the engine room.
Alongisde Viktor Gyokeres, another player linked with Rangers, Gustavo Hamer has been pivotal in the Sky Blues challenging for Premier League promotion and his loss will be sorely felt.
Again though, it demonstrates just how expensive the English market has become to Rangers.
The best players from the Championship, even those with less than a goal every two games are going for upwards of £30m.

Hamer is a cracking player but is he proven at the same level as Nicolas Raskin or Jose Cifuentes? No.
Todd Cantwell has shown that he can perform in the Premier League and we picked him up for £1.5m.
Three players who will be the future of Rangers midfield and player trading model for under £5m.
Hopefully, if all goes according to plam, they will leave for a fee similar to the one that now sees Gustavo Hamer out of reach.
