Rangers’ transfer rivals Coventry are turning their attentions to Chelsea star Bashir Humphreys amid conflicting Jonathan Panzo to Ibrox reports.
According to the Evening Standard, the influence of Coventry assistant Adi Viveash could help secure a deal for the 20-year-old defender with the Blues considering taking up a contract extension option.

Centre-back Bashir Humphreys has just spent the last six months on loan at Paderborn in Bundesliga 2 and is about to enter the final year of his current contract, which can be extended by another season.
The defender has played for the Chelsea top team and is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge, having started the FA Cup Third Round clash with Manchester City back in January.
Bashir Humphreys links come amid Rangers Jonathan Panzo reports
Where Rangers come into things is with regards the club’s apparent pursuit of Nottingham Forest centre-back Jonathan Panzo who has been the subject of some conflicting reporting in recent days.
There were claims the Ibrox club was closing in on a £2.5m deal for the 22-year-old ex-Chelsea youth defender, who spent last season on loan at Coventry City as they narrowly missed out on Premier League promotion via the Championship Playoffs.
However, these were rebuffed in the last few days, with other reports claiming that whilst Rangers have a strong interest in Jonathan Panzo, nothing is said and done.
Fabrizio Romano then added some fuel to the fire by claiming that whilst Rangers are interested, the City Ground centre-back also has strong options in England and Germany.

But given those Coventry City links to Bashir Humphreys, it’ll give Rangers fans confidence that the Skyblues and Mark Robins are not a likely destination for the defender this summer.
Coventry and West Brom have both been named as Jonathan Panzo suitors in the earlier reporting and with Chelsea star Bashir Humphreys now firmly in the Championship side’s crosshairs instead, Rangers may have one less challenger.
Jonathan Panzo made 32 appearances for Coventry City last season, scoring once.
