Andy Robertson, who appears set to join Tottenham, has delivered insight on Lawrence Shankland’s transfer to Rangers.

Robertson and Shankland are teammates for the Scotland national side and will be representing their country at the World Cup.

Both players have left their respective clubs this summer, and the left-back has waxed lyrical over the 30-year-old’s ability.

Andy Robertson lauds Lawrence Shankland for goal against Denmark

Robertson has praised Shankland for scoring Scotland’s second goal against Denmark in the famous 4-2 win in the World Cup qualifier.

The left-back claims that it is due to the striker’s goals in important moments that he earned himself a move to Ibrox.

In his view, the Rangers forward does not get enough credit for his goal, as Scott McTominay primarily made the headlines for his overhead kick.

He could fire Rangers to a domestic treble!

Robertson believes that the 30-year-old has made a career out of scoring important goals, and backs him to succeed at his new club.

He told talkSPORT: “That night against Denmark will go down in the history books, I think one of the best games at Hampden and to be a part of that, to know how much it meant and what was at stake and then to go into just, like you said, Shanks doesn’t even get a shout-out for the goal that he scored, but he’s made a career out of that.

“You know, that’s why he scored his move to Rangers because of goals like that.”

Rangers’ new signing Shankland is in action today

While Rangers fans will be excited to see Shankland at the World Cup, they will be treated to a sneak peek on Saturday afternoon as well.

Scotland take on Curacao in their World Cup send-off match, and the 30-year-old has been named in Steve Clarke’s starting eleven.

Robertson, who captains the side, will also be playing from the kick-off.

The Ibrox faithful will also be delighted to see Souttar in the playing eleven, while Findlay Curtis on the bench could come on in the second half of the contest.

Hopefully, Shankland and Souttar make the most of their starts and have good performances so that Clarke can start them in his Scotland side at the World Cup.
