Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Bristol City forward Tommy Conway as Philippe Clement continues to eye attacking additions.
Rangers have already landed one attacker this month with Fabio Silva arriving on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Silva will be heading back to England in the summer so Rangers may look at potential long-term answers in attack.
Reports last week indicated that Rangers have joined the race to sign Bristol City forward Tommy Conway with the January transfer deadline looming.
Celtic, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also thought to be interested in Conway, so Rangers face a real battle.
Conway isn’t a household name just yet so let’s take a look at the Bristol City talent and how he could fit in at Ibrox…
Tommy Conway, the story so far
Conway hails from Taunton in Somerset, so it was no surprise when Bristol City added him to their youth ranks at the age of seven.
Conway has made his way up through the Robins ranks and spent two loan spells away from Ashton Gate, joining Yate Town and Bath City.
Bristol City handed Conway his Championship debut in April 2021 and he managed to find a first goal just a month later.
Conway took on a huge role last season though, bagging 12 goals in 38 appearances to emerge as a real talent.
The 21-year-old enjoying a fine campaign this term too, hitting six goals in 21 Championship as well as scoring the winner against West Ham United in the FA Cup earlier this month.
A centre forward, Conway is a Scotland Under-21 international with one goal in five caps, qualifying through one of his grandparents being born and raised in Stirling.

Tommy Conway, what they say
“He will probably be disappointed he didn’t get a hat-trick. But that’s what you want, you want ambitious players. He is a youngster, very hungry for success and he works exceptionally hard at his game and on a physical and psychological level he has made great strides over the last 12 months,” – former Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson.
“I really like Harry Kane but he likes to come to feet and I like to go in behind a little bit more. The gaffer had Vardy at Leicester and compares me to him. Those are the two strikers I’ve looked up to,” – Conway on Pearson comparing him to Jamie Vardy.
Tommy Conway to Rangers analysis
Conway is certainly an exciting talent and he has been developing well at Bristol City with 18 months of Championship action under his belt.
There is huge potential in Conway and he could develop into a real goalscoring star in the coming years.
Rangers should certainly have talents like Conway on the radar, especially as a Scotland Under-21 international.
Conway is a name to keep close tabs on but we can’t see Rangers pushing for a deal to sign him before the window shuts this month.
A summer move – when Conway will be inside the final year of his Robins contract – seems more likely, giving Rangers a little more time to assess Conway and his suitability for a move to Ibrox.
