Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been mentioned alongside the job at Aston Villa as the pressure mounts on Dean Smith amid a run of poor form.
Gers supporters are well used to their popular manager being linked to just about every major job that comes up down south and talk of the Villains comes after links to Newcastle United.
Gerrard laughed off those links when pressed on them last month as attention at St James’ Park appears to turn elsewhere following the sacking of Steve Bruce.
“Do I look happy?
Do I look settled?
Don’t ask me stupid questions then” 👏🏻

But despite the Gers gaffer’s insistence he’s happy at Rangers, the manager continues to be linked with the Ibrox exit door and a move to the Premier League.
However, far from be actual substantiated links, talk of Gerrard and Villa instead appears to originate from prime Rangers-baiter and ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton.
Sutton claims Rangers manager Steven Gerrard “would take” Aston Villa role
Conspiracy-daft Sutton loves to mix the pot north of the border and his latest comments claim that Steven Gerrard would head to Villa Park if he was offered the job.
“I think he’s taken us as far as he’s going to.”

His ideal replacement?

This was after a Villa fan pitched the Rangers manager as a potential replacement for Dean Smith, with the fan suggesting Smith has taken the Birmingham side as far as they can go.
“Steven Gerrard would take the Villa job, Rob (Savage),” said Sutton in response to Robbie Savage on BBC Radio Five Live.
“If he was offered the job he would.”
Rangers boss Gerrard has never once hinted he’d be open to leaving Ibrox for another job – quite the opposite actually – with the one at Anfield probably the only one which would tempt him.
Spoken like a true Celtic fan desperate to see the back of Stevie G, Sutton can dream but we certainly won’t be expecting Gerrard to head south anytime soon.
Talk of Aston Villa comes after Dean Smith’s side were thumped 4-1 by West Ham, their fourth straight league defeat and a result which leaves them 15th in the Premier League table.
Gerrard was delighted with his team’s performance in the victory over Motherwell but singled one under-fire Gers star out for special praise.
