Steven Gerrard has fired a warning to his squad ahead of the trip to Hearts.
He also elaborated on his planned talks with the Chairman, Dave King, as quoted by the club’s website.

Saturday afternoon’s fixture at Tynecastle is the first of five post-split fixtures which represent the final opportunities to impress the manager before the summer transfer window opens.
Stevie G didn’t beat around the bush about the potential repercussions of poor displays, either.
“I think the last two performances were really strong and we played some really good stuff in possession,” said Gerrard, as quoted by
“The important thing for me is to keep pushing because I won’t have any individual or group try and take their foot off the gas. Players are playing for their futures here; it is as simple as that.”

You can’t get any clearer than that. No player can claim they weren’t warned.
He also revealed that crunch talks with Dave King, are imminent.
“I feel as if we fell short (this season) and I had a really honest conversation with the Chairman on the phone. I will be catching up with him face to face in the coming weeks as well.”

The transfer window doesn’t officially open until June but the planning is clearly starting much earlier than that.
A clear out is needed and players currently on the fringes have five weeks worth of training and playing during which to prove they deserve to stay next season.
