Some Rangers fans bid a temporary goodbye to Greg Docherty

Rangers have officially announced that midfielder Greg Docherty has joined Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan deal, and some people online are not impressed.

Docherty has made 14 appearances for the Gers to date following his move from Hamilton Academical in January, and will now spend the entirety of the 2018/19 campaign at New Meadow.

Of Docherty’s 14 appearances, 11 came in the Scottish Premiership, and it was anticipated that opportunities would dry up for the 21-year-old following the summer business done by new manager Steven Gerrard.

The Liverpool legend appears to have acted with haste in sanctioning Docherty’s temporary move away, and that hasn’t sat too well with some people, who feel as though he could have offered something at Ibrox this season.

That said, apparently Gerrard has ‘reassured’ Docherty that he is in his future plans, as reported by STV Sport, but he just wants him to go out and experience regular first team football again, as he did with Hamilton where he made close to 100 league appearances.
