Earlier this week, a report in the Express claimed that Rangers are interested in Millwall right-back, Mahlon Romeo.
The Antigua and Barbuda international is rated at £450k by Transfermarkt, and is currently a regular with the Championship outfit.
However, contrary to a suggestion in the initial report, the 23-year-old will not be picked up on a pre-contract agreement.

According to the club’s website, he signed a new ‘long-term’ deal with the Lions during the summer.
Therefore, any move to bring him to Ibrox would involve a fee.
Should Polster be worried?
USA international, Polster, signed for Rangers during the final few days of the January window.
However, he is yet to make his debut for the club.
Steven Gerrard did say that both he and Glen Kamara would take time to get up to speed. Yet, the former has started the last five matches, while Polster still hasn’t got a go.

However, it’s more likely that any interest in Romeo is connected to the possibility of James Tavernier leaving the club.

He has been superb all season and his performances are bound to be turning heads south of the border.
Furthermore, it would be ridiculous to go through the process of bringing in Polster on trial and eventually giving him a two-and-a-half year deal, if Gerrard wasn’t willing to give him a chance.
He shouldn’t be distracted by the reports. Right now, his main focus has to be getting fit and earning himself a debut – sooner, rather than later.
