Rangers seemingly won’t be signing Queen’s Park goalkeeper Callan McKenna as Manchester United close in on the teenager.
Rangers fans are looking to see more first-team additions arrive this month.
Fabio Silva is on board but further signings bolster Philippe Clement’s squad would be ideal.
Rangers may still look to sign talents for the future though, in the hope of uncovering an absolute gem for the years to come.
Sadly for Rangers, it looks like one such target is poised to slip through the net…
Rangers-linked Callan McKenna nearing Manchester United move
The Daily Record reported back in August that Rangers had been alerted to the potential of Queen’s Park goalkeeper Callan McKenna.
McKenna was also wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Burnley, Brighton and Hove Albion, Southampton and rivals Celtic.
The 17-year-old has emerged as a huge talent, starting Queen’s Park’s first seven league games this season before dropping to the bench.
McKenna is a Scotland Under-19 international and Rangers will always be in the market for such talents.
Sadly, The Daily Record now claim that McKenna is nearing a move to Premier League giants Manchester United.
United are believed to be in ‘advanced talks’ over a six-figure deal for McKenna, but the eventual fee could reach over £1million.
The former Hibernian talent looks set to make the move to Old Trafford, meaning Rangers are on the verge of missing out.
Rangers may just keep one eye on McKenna’s progress at United though, just in case there is a chance to bring him to Ibrox down the line.
Rangers recently handed a trial to United youngster Adam Berry and there may be scope for similar with McKenna down the line.
McKenna’s move meant Rangers will now have to look elsewhere for young talents, with scouts no doubt looking through the Scottish league system for potential signings.
