Michael Beale spoke about how hard a decision it was to not renew Arfield’s contract but with Kieran Dowell signed, Tom Lawrence fit again and Alex Lowry ready to make an impact, his minutes were always likely to be limited.
Offers from England were said to have been rejected and MLS will give the former Falkirk youngster the chance to play more often without the demands of life in the SPFL or the 60 game season that comes with being a Rangers player.
The warmer climate will be good for his ageing bones but, as a player who has always been known for his running power, a lower intensity and frequency of games could enable him to prolong a career beyond the next two seasons.
On a personal level, Scott Arfield will always have a place in the hearts of Rangers fans, so to now will Charlotte FC.
