Russell Martin has finally found himself a job following his disappointing tenure at Rangers last season.

He was the American owners‘ first appointment at Ibrox, but was shown the door a few months into his time at Glasgow.

The 40-year-old has been officially announced as the Leicester City manager and is tasked with getting the Foxes back to the second tier following their relegation to League One.

Who is the worst-ever Rangers manager? 🤔

We think it cannot be anyone else except Russell Martin!

Russell Martin wants to sign John Souttar at Leicester City

Martin is keen on reuniting with Rangers defender John Souttar at the King Power Stadium, according to Transfer Feed.

The Scotland international fell down in the pecking order at Ibrox, with Danny Rohl opting for a centre-back pairing of Emmanuel Fernandez and Nasser Djiga.

However, Rohl is set to leave Ibrox for RB Salzburg, and Djiga has already returned to Wolves following his loan spell.

Where does John Souttar rank among the best defenders in the Scottish Premiership?

He was handed a new Rangers contract earlier this year.

Also, Souttar signed a contract extension with the Light Blues earlier this year, but things could change for him with Derek McInnes’ arrival.

The incoming manager is expected to fancy certain players, and it remains to be seen if he rates the 29-year-old.

Rangers News understands that the board is keen on signing two centre-backs this summer, making it very likely that Souttar is not the first-choice option going into the new season.

Heart and Hand’s David Edgar, along with most Gers fans, was not pleased with Martin’s tenure at Ibrox.

The club were struggling in the league, winning just one game, and many thought that his sacking came too late, even though he was shown the door in October.

He wants Martin to give Rangers millions of pounds in transfer fees via the Leicester coffers if he is to forgive him for his tenure in Glasgow.

Now that Danny Rohl seems set to leave Rangers, how would you rate his time at the club?

Via X, Edgar wrote: “Give us millions of pounds and I’ll begin to forgive you Russell.”

It is understood that the Gers have not received an offer from Leicester for Souttar, but that could change in the coming weeks.

Currently, the centre-back is on international duty at the World Cup, so his future is expected to be resolved after that.
