Ross County v Rangers: Staggies secure Premier League loan before Dingwall clash

Scottish Premiership rivals Ross County lie in wait for Rangers after the club host Alashkert in the Europa League and they’ve been bolstered by a Premier League signing.

The Staggies have signed winger Joseph Hungbo on a season-long loan deal from newly-promoted Premier League outfit Watford.

The attacker becomes the tenth signing of the Malky McKay reign and brings strong pedigree having already made the breakthrough at Watford.

Hungbo, 21, has played for the Hornets in the FA Cup and was even involved in the Championship run-in last season as the Vicarage Road club gained promotion.

McKay has expressed his delight at securing Hungbo’s services for a season in Dingwall as the player gears up for a season in the Scottish Premiership.

“Joseph is an exciting prospect, who has played in the Championship, learned his trade at two Premier League Clubs and, at 21, he has already shown a terrific appetite to play at the top level of the game,” said McKay [Ross County].

“We feel this can be a really good move for him to challenge and prove himself in the SPFL.

“I would like to thank Watford FC for the way in which they conducted the loan deal and our continued relationship.”

Hungbo had a short spell at Aldershot Town last season and recently extended his contract at Watford until 2024.

Ross County may be amongst the favourites tipped to be involved in a relegation dogfight but a trip to Dingwall has always been a potential banana skin.

The club have started their Scottish Premiership campaign with a draw against St Johnstone and defeat to Hibs, whilst they crashed out of the League Cup at the group stages.

Speaking of young attackers and Watford, the English side snared the signing of a former Rangers talent following his release from the club this summer.
