Rangers have failed with a first offer for Feyenoord striker Danilo but the Eredivisie champions are open to selling this summer.

The Gers continue to chase more attacking signings after landing Atalanta forward Sam Lammers earlier this month.

Brighton and Hove Albion’s Abdallah Sima appears to be on the way in but Rangers have also looked towards Feyenoord forward Danilo.

Rumours on Tuesday suggested that Rangers had submitted a bid for Danilo, but that the offer had been rejected.

The Daily Mail now claim that Feyenoord are open to selling Danilo this summer, with a move to Ibrox still possible.

The Daily Record add that Feyenoord want more than £5million for Danilo and that Rangers are ‘miles’ away from a deal.

Feyenoord ‘instantly’ rejected Rangers’ first offer and the ball is now in Rangers’ court as they consider a new offer.

Rangers remain keen on signing Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers, but he would allegedly be even more expensive than Danilo at £6.5million.

Danilo was ironically signed to help replace Cyriel Dessers

Danilo and Dessers are actually interlinked by Feyenoord.

Dessers excelled on loan at Feyenoord in the 2021-22 season, smashing 20 goals in 41 appearances.

A permanent deal didn’t materialise and Feyenoord lost both Dessers and Bryan Linssen, with the latter moving on to Japan.

Feyenoord brought in replacements by landing Santiago Gimenez and Danilo to spearhead their new attack.

Danilo was in and out of the team, starting 14 league games and coming off the bench 20 times as Feyenoord won the title.

10 goals and three assists in 1337 minutes is an impressive record for Danilo and that’s why Feyenoord have a decent asking price on his head.

The 24-year-old certainly chipped in with goals after Dessers moved on, and Rangers are now looking at either player to help Michael Beale’s side.

Signing both Danilo and Dessers seems unlikely but Rangers seem ready to spend millions on finding a new goalscorer – and probably one with ties to Feyenoord at this rate.
