Rangers have ‘practically’ tied up the signing of LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes according to claims in Ecuador.
The Gers have been chasing Cifuentes for months now and there have been many false dawns over a deal being done.
The Daily Record claimed earlier this month that Rangers had agreed a £1.2million deal to sign Cifuentes.
That was played down pretty quickly but The Daily Record added just a few days ago that Rangers had resumed talks to land the LAFC star.
This is seen as a crucial period for Rangers in their pursuit of the midfielder.
LAFC’s 1-1 draw with Minnesota United over the weekend is their last game until early August and last league game until August 21st.
This break period in the MLS season should give Rangers the perfect chance to thrash out a deal with LAFC.
Well, according to the latest claims emerging from Ecuador, Cifuentes should be heading for Ibrox pretty soon.

Ecuadorian reporter claims Jose Cifuentes to Rangers ‘practically’ done
Ecuadorian journalist Andres Ponce has now taken to Twitter to report that the deal for Rangers to sign Cifuentes is ‘practically closed’.
Ponce adds that ‘the clubs have an agreement’ with Rangers and LAFC allegedly finally reaching a deal.
Ponce suggested that joining Rangers may be a route to a ‘stronger league’ down the line.
That may not go down too well; Cifuentes hasn’t even kicked a ball for Rangers so a next move should be a long way into the distance.

The rise of Calvin Bassey will leave some players believing they can do the same though, with Cifuentes no different.
The 24-year-old is an all-action midfielder who has impressed in Major League Soccer since joining LAFC from Universidad Catolica in Ecuador.
Cifuentes now wants to take the next step by joining Rangers, with European football no doubt very appealing.
It would be nice to finally bring an end to this transfer saga and Gers fans will be hoping that Ponce is right with his claims.
