The future of reported Rangers target Cho Gue-sung could depend on Celtic financing their own interest through the sale of Giorgos Giakoumakis.
That’s according to the Daily Record, who have been speaking in broader terms about the Parkhead club’s reported interest in the striker.

In fact, their latest report on the Cho Gue-sung situation doesn’t mention Rangers at all, with Celtic seemingly the party further down the line with regards a deal.
Not that anything is cut or dry of that there aren’t other suitors.
The Record are claiming that whilst Celtic’s £3m bid for the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker is less than the £5m fronted by MLS side Minnesota United, the Parkhead club hope to convince the J-League side with a substantial sell-on.
According to the report, Celtic would “finance” any move by selling Giorgos Giakoumakis, who has been linked with a £4m switch to Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds.
The report also claims that Rangers-linked Cho Gue-sung – who has also been linked to Bundesliga side Mainz – prefers a switch to Europe over the US.
This echoes reports coming out of South Korea with sources close to Sport Seoul claiming that a transfer to Europe is “likely”.
Rangers links to Cho Gue-sung come from reputable sources
Rangers fans following the Cho Gue-sung story have been somewhat suspicious of the timing of the Ibrox links given Celtic’s prominent and high-profile interest.
Rangers of course already have three first-team strikers on the books, albeit Antonio Colak has just returned from injury, Kemar Roofe a constant injury fear and Alfredo Morelos out of contract.
However, there are reputable journalists in Alan Nixon and at Sky Sports claiming the interest is legitimate even if Rangers are yet to launch an official bid for the player.
With Jeonbuk sporting director Park Ji-Sung in London to negotiate the transfer, perhaps Rangers are waiting to see if any interest from Mexico in one of their key players comes to fruition.
It could all hinge on interest in a familiar Bundesliga star.
