At the end of last month, the Scotsman reported that Rangers were interested in Timm Klose.
The 30-year-old centre-back’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but it’s now suggested that Norwich City are close to agreeing on an extension.

The Pink’un reports that after months of negotiations, Klose is ready to put pen to paper. The Canaries sealing promotion to the Premier League is stated as a clinching factor to the deal.

Matters on the field had suggested an extended stay at Carrow Road was increasingly unlikely. Klose had fallen down the pecking order behind Christoph Zimmermann and Ben Godfrey, and only made two substitute appearances in April.
Therefore, it looked as though another cheap swoop was on the cards for Rangers.

Now, though, it seems the Gers boss will have to start searching elsewhere.
The Daily Record report that Rangers are upping the ante in their pursuit of Rennes centre-back Edson Mexer. However, it’s likely they will need more than one reinforcement in this area.
Gareth McAuley is set to leave the club when his contract imminently expires, while Joe Worrall will return to Nottingham Forest on loan.
Therefore, at least two defenders will have to come in to ensure the ranks aren’t depleted.
