Oliver McBurnie has never made any bones about his Rangers allegiances – and now the Sheffield United striker could be available for free come the end of the season.
The Gers support are bracing themselves for some movement in the striker position this summer with Alfredo Morelos out of contract and Kemar Roofe perennially injured.

And the Gers could certainly do worse than cast their glances towards Blades and Scotland forward Oliver McBurnie, who joined Sheffield United on a four-year deal four seasons ago.
Back in 2019, Sheffield United made headlines after splashing out a reported £20m to bring McBurnie to Bramall Lane from Swansea City following their promotion to the Premier League.
It’s an eye-watering figure and shows just how highly the now-26-year-old striker was rated south of the border at the time and Rangers fans may well be taking notice of the player’s contract situation.
Should Rangers be monitoring Oliver McBurnie situation?
Whilst there has been no official link between Rangers and Oliver McBurnie, given the player’s stature in the game and the fact he is a diehard bluenose it would be surprising if the club aren’t aware of his situation.
Barring any contract extensions or unknown clauses in his contract, similarly to Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent at Ibrox, McBurnie will be free to discuss terms elsewhere in January.
For Rangers fans the striker represents an interesting option even if Oliver McBurnie hasn’t always hit the goalscoring heights his price tag demands.
Scoring only 17 goals in 112 appearances for Sheffield United, Scotland striker McBurnie has also made 17 caps for the national side without scoring.
However, nine of those goals have come in 17 games this season and for all intents and purposes, it appears the 6ft1 centre forward is finding his form again as the striker’s contract ticks down in the Championship.
Meanwhile, one Rangers star’s downturn in form at Ibrox has led to a World Cup snub.
