Steven Gerrard wants Rangers right-back James Tavernier at Al Ettifaq

According to 90min, Steven Gerrard wants to take Rangers right-back James Tavernier to his new club Al Ettifaq.

Liverpool legend Gerrard was recently appointed as the new manager of Al Ettifaq, and the former Rangers boss reportedly wants to sign Tavernier for the Saudi Arabian club.

90min have added that the £33,000-a-week (SalarySport) 31-year-old has interest from other clubs in Saudi Arabia as well.

Could Rangers lose Tavernier?

In our opinion, Rangers need not worry too much about losing James Tavernier to former Gers manager Steven Gerrard in the summer transfer window.

Tavernier is under contract at Rangers until the summer of 2026.

So, Rangers could demand a lot of money for the 31-year-old.

Now, of course, we know that clubs in Saudi Arabia are offering players a lot of money.

Tavernier could well be tempted to make a move.

However, that does not mean that Rangers will have to sell him.

The former Scottish Premiership champions could ask for a lot of money in transfer fees for Tavernier if indeed Al Ettifaq come calling.
