Rangers are on the verge of signing Atalanta striker Sam Lammers and appear to have beaten five Dutch clubs to his signature.

The Gers have been chasing attacking options this summer with Alfredo Morelos on his way out.

Lammers has become a prime target and Michael Beale is now on the verge of landing his man.

Sky Sports report that Lammers is undergoing a medical with Rangers today ahead of securing his move to Glasgow.

Lammers is arriving in a deal worth around £3million as he seeks to get his carer back on track.

The 26-year-old has struggled since leaving PSV Eindhoven from Atalanta in the summer of 2020.

Lammers didn’t justify his move to Italy and struggled on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, Empoli and Sampdoria.

Now becoming a case of unfulfilled potential, Lammers must hope that this move to Rangers is the one that gets him scoring again.

Sam Lammers picks Rangers over Netherlands return

Lammers may have struggled of late but he is still attracting plenty of interest.

FC Update in the Netherlands report that five Eredivisie clubs have been looking to sign Lammers.

Heerenveen, Vitesse Arnhem, NEC Nijmegen, Heracles Almelo and FC Twente are all thought to have been interested.

Twente – Michael Beale’s former club from his youth playing days – were considered the ‘most obvious’ in the race for Lammers.

Twente have sneaked into the qualifying rounds of the Europa Conference League and may have looked to spend on Lammers.

Rangers have won the race though with Lammers seemingly reluctant to head back home right now.

It would have been easy for Lammers to go back to the Netherlands and maybe join Heerenveen, the club where he scored 19 goals in the 2018-19 season.

Instead, Lammers wants to test himself at Rangers and finally prove that he can be a success outside of the Eredivisie.
