Rangers will now face a battle with Premier League side Sheffield United in the race to sign BK Hacken talent Benie Traore.
The Gers are in the market for more attacking options after signing Sam Lammers from Atalnata earlier this month.
A host of names are being linked with Rangers right now and Ivorian talent Traore is one of them.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported earlier in June that Rangers have been showing an interest in landing BK Hacken ace Traore.
A £4million valuation was claimed but there was a much more concerning part of the report – that Celtic are keen to get Traore in.
Rangers’ bitter rivals appear to be focused on other targets like Australian Marco Tilio, which may allow the Gers to pounce.
There is other interest though and it looks like Rangers may now face a Premier League battle.
Sheffield United join race for Benie Traore
The aforementioned Nixon now reports that Sheffield United are interested in signing Traore.
The fee mentioned this time is £5million, so maybe BK Hacken are sensing major interest and are just taking the price up a little.
Nixon claims that Rangers did offer £2.8million for Traore, but that offer was rejected with BK Hacken seeing more.
Celtic’s interest is again stated but interest from a Premier League club may be a concern for Rangers.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side have stepped up to the top flight after just two years away.

The Blades need attackers if they are to stay up, especially with both Iliman Ndiaye and Oli McBurnie entering the final year of their contracts.
Traore may be seen as a player to give Sheffield United a long-term option in attack and around £4million to £5million will fit into their budget.
Traore, 20, has become a real sensation in Sweden with 12 goals in his first 13 games of the 2023 Allsvenskan season.
The former ASEC Mimosas talent appears to have enormous potential and it was only a matter of time before Premier League clubs started sniffing around.
Rangers will have to increase that £2.8million offer if they are to sign Traore – and must then hope to fend off Sheffield United.
