Rangers have shown an interest in signing Hamilton Academical talent Ryan One but look set to miss out on a deal.
That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Accies talent One is a wanted man this summer.
It’s stated that One is attracted major interest from clubs in England.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford and Bournemouth are all thought to be interested in signing One.
The report adds that Rangers have been keeping tabs on One, but the expectation now is that he will end up in England.
One is only 16 but has already played 28 first-team games for Hamilton, which is a staggering number for his age.
One has only scored twice for Hamilton but the expectation is that he will become a star in the future.
Some may remember One’s father Armand from his own playing days.
Armand One turned out for the likes of Cambridge United and Wrexham in the early 2000’s before heading to Scotland.
The French-born striker featured for Partick Thistle, Cowdenbeath, Raith Rovers, Livingston, Stranraer and Alloa Athletic as he ended up spending most of his career in Scotland.
Son Ryan could play for France but has already been capped at Scotland Under-17 level with seven caps to his name.
That may give Rangers some hope of keeping One in Scotland but beating the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United sounds difficult.
Rangers have been prolific in terms of signing young players in recent times.
Zak Lovelace and Bailey Rice spring to mind and should have bright futures in the years to come.
Thompson Ishaka, Christian Mulindwa, Souleyman Mandey and Lancelot Pollard are a few more names Rangers have landed in recent times, with the Gers casting their net far and wide in the pursuit of future stars.
One could be another, but Rangers will have to pull out all the stops to win the race for his signature.
