Rangers want Luis Palma but a move to Major League Soccer currently seems more likely for the Arts wide man.

The Gers will be looking far and wide for new signings this summer.

That has been absolutely clear after recent rumours, with Rangers seemingly looking towards Greek football.

Greek newspaper Sportime reported over the weekend that Rangers are keen on Aris winger Luis Palma.

It was suggested that Rangers would be going to watch Palma in action for Aris against Olympiacos on Sunday evening.

Palma helped Aris claim a 2-2 draw but was substituted with 15 minutes to play.

Palma has impressed this season, bagging 10 goals and six assists in 29 games for Aris.

Rangers may be weighing up a move for the Honduran international but there will be major competition for his signature.

Rangers face MLS fight for Luis Palma

SportDay in Greece has now published a story about Palma’s future.

They claim that Belgian side Gent have shown an interest in Palma, as have teams in Russia.

Yet it’s noted that there is ‘even hotter’ interest from teams in Major League Soccer with American teams seemingly even more keen than Rangers.

A number of Honduras internationals already play in Major League Soccer, including LAFC’s Denil Maldonado and DC United’s Andy Najar.

The prospect of joining his national teammates in the United States may well appeal to Palma, who will have also seen Alberth Elis become a star with Houston Dynamo before shining in Europe.

The interested club aren’t named but Palma did have a stint in America in 2019, spending time on man at Real Monarchs – the reserve team of Real Salt Lake.

Rangers would hope to be able to beat MLS clubs to signing Palma given the European football on offer at Ibrox, but the added competition could be a problem for Ross Wilson and co.
