Report: Rangers are preparing summer bid for ‘brilliant’ winger

Rangers are back in for Morgan Whittaker with Michael Beale desperate to finally sign the Swansea City winger.

That is according to a report from the Daily Record, who claim that Rangers will make a new move for Whittaker very soon.

Rangers tried to sign Whittaker in January and had an offer of around £1.8million rejected by Swansea.

However, Whittaker hasn’t featured much for Swansea since then and the winger is allegedly aware that Rangers still want him.

Michael Beale remains keen on Whittaker and Rangers are now expected to make a new move to sign him this summer.

Rangers aren’t alone though; it’s suggested that a number of English clubs also fancy signing Whittaker.

Beale will hope to land his man though, with two Championship wingers – Whittaker and Chris Willock – seemingly wanted at Ibrox.

It’s clear Morgan Whittaker needs to leave Swansea City

Whittaker was a top young prospect at Derby County before heading to Wales in 2021.

The 22-year-old was never really able to kick on with Swansea though and his best period came on loan at Plymouth Argyle earlier this season.

Whittaker racked up nine goals and seven assists in 25 games for Argyle, leading to Plymouth boss Steven Schumacher hailing him as ‘brilliant’.

Swansea recalled him in January and the expectation was that Whittaker would be sold to Rangers.

That didn’t happen but Whittaker has managed just two league starts since his return.

Former Rangers defender Russell Martin just doesn’t seem to fancy Whittaker and it would be wise for all to move on.

Whether Whittaker is really the quality of player Rangers need is up for debate, but Beale seems convinced by him.
