Rangers appear to be cooling their interest in Morgan Whittaker even with the winger seemingly looking to leave Swansea City.
Whittaker is one of those names that just hasn’t gone away from the Rangers rumour mill in recent months.
Michael Beale quickly targeted Whittaker in the January transfer window and wanted to lure him to Ibrox.
Wales Online were first on the story, claiming that Rangers had seen a first bid for the wide man rejected.
Claims from the Daily Record suggested that Whittaker wanted to make the move to Glasgow but the January window passed without a deal.
Sure enough though, the rumours returned ahed of the summer window.
The Daily Record claimed early in June that Rangers were in talks to try and finally lure Whittaker to Ibrox.
A month has now passed with no deal being done – and it looks there won’t be a deal at all.
Rangers cool interest in Morgan Whittaker
Wales Online now report that Whittaker is ‘open’ to leaving Swansea this summer as he seeks regular playing time.
Whittaker went from shining on loan at Plymouth Argyle to being a bit-part player back at Swansea, which just isn’t good enough.
However, it’s added that Rangers have now backed away from Whittaker and the interest has now cooled.
The Gers have added a number of attacking threats this summer with Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima on board whilst Cyriel Dessers is inbound.

It may well be that Rangers just don’t have any more room for Whittaker right now even if Beale is a fan.
Sima can play out wide whilst Tom Lawrence should make an impact if he can stay fit.
Fashion Sakala and Rabbi Matondo are still at the club too, meaning Rangers may need to move somebody out to get Whittaker in.
That doesn’t seem likely right now and with Coventry City interested in Whittaker too, the route to Ibrox now appears tricky for the English wide man.
