Jose Cifuentes is reportedly keen on making the move to Rangers and playing for the Gers in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Jose Cifuentes to Rangers on track

According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon on Patreon, Jose Cifuentes will move to Rangers despite late interest in the Los Angeles FC midfielder from a club in England.

The reporter has claimed that the 24-year-old is ready to sign a pre-contract with Rangers at the end of the month despite a club from the Premier League trying to sign him.

Cifuentes would be able to sign a pre-contract with Rangers in July and then move to the Gers on a free transfer at the end of the year when his current contract with Los Angeles FC runs out.

Nixon has reported that if Rangers are to bring the Ecuador international midfield to Ibrox now, then they will have to agree on a low transfer fee with his Major League Soccer club.

The reporter has added that a deal with Rangers is still on track, adding that “the player is committed to head to Glasgow and play in the Champions League”.

Rangers finished second in the Scottish Premiership table last season and will enter the UEFA Champions League at the third qualifying round.

Exciting

In our opinion, that Jose Cifuentes wants to join Rangers despite interest from a club in the Premier League is very exciting and encouraging for the Ibrox faithful.

It would be quite a big statement from Rangers if they were able to bring in the 24-year-old ahead of a top-tier club in England.

Cifuentes has made nine starts and four substitute appearances in Major League Soccer for Los Angeles FC this season.

The 24-year-old has given two assists in those games.
