Rangers may have a real chance of signing Benfica left back David Jurasek with the Czech international is allegedly keen on a move to Ibrox.
Rangers have been linked with so many left backs of late, it’s almost difficult to keep up.
Eredivisie left backs Gijs Smal and Fredrik Oppegard have been mentioned, as has Bristol City ace Cameron Pring.
Kai Wagner has chosen to stay at Philadelphia Union, so that’s one rumoured target out of contention.
Then there is Benfica ace David Jurasek with reports indicating that Rangers are battling Bundesliga clubs in the race to sign Jurasek.
David Jurasek open to leaving Benfica for Rangers
Jurasek only joined Benfica over the summer in a deal worth €14million (£12million) having impressed with Slavia Prague.
The 25-year-old hasn’t really impressed for Benfica though and the Portuguese giants have now signed another left back by landing Alvaro Fernandez from Manchester United.
That may pave the way for Jurasek to leave and TEAMtalk now claim that Jurasek is open to making the move to Glasgow.
It’s stated that a mystery Bundesliga club have made an offer for Jurasek but Rangers have ‘put a good offer on the table’ to land the Czech international.
Rangers are thought to be in a strong position in the race for Jurasek and his willingness to make the move to Ibrox is a real source of encouragement.
Jurasek – hailed as an ‘extraordinary player’ by his former Slavia boss Jindřich Trpišovský – was simply outstanding for Slavia, bagging 14 assists in 55 games for the club.
The move to Benfica may not have paid off so far, but a move to Rangers – even if only on loan – would give Philippe Clement a quality left back option amid questions in that area.
Ridvan Yilmaz continues to be linked away from Rangers whilst Borna Barisic is out of contract at the end of the season.
Jurasek appears to be a prime target but with Bundesliga clubs lurking, this isn’t a done deal by any stretch of the imagination.
