RB Salzburg have tabled a £4m bid for a Rangers-linked striker who has been labelled the ‘new Erling Haaland’, according to Croatian Football News.
Roko Simic currently plays for NK Lokomotiva in Croatia and the Gers were first credited with interest in him back in May [Scottish Sun].
Former Ibrox striker Nikica Jelavic briefly played alongside Simic prior to retiring from playing earlier this year and he raved about the 17-year-old’s potential.
Jelavic described him as ‘one of the greatest talents in Croatian football’ before saying he’s convinced that he will become a ‘world-class striker’ [Scottish Sun].
Meanwhile, Robert Sola, editor of Sportske Novosti in Croatia, has compared Simic to Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland [Voetbal Nieuws].
Just last month, the powerful young forward signed a new contract at Lokomotiva, briefly halting transfer speculation.

However, it appears that RB Salzburg haven’t been put off by that development.
That’s because Croatian Football News reports that they have formally offered £4 million for Simic.
Rangers aren’t mentioned in the update, but it is stated that multiple clubs are interested in the teenager.

With Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten, Fashion Sakala and Jermain Defoe already on the books, it seems unlikely that Gerrard would look to bring in another forward this summer unless a member of the current group is sold.
Simic may come into the reckoning if, for example, the club cashes in on Morelos, though, and while £4m is a substantial offer from Salzburg, it isn’t high enough to suggest that Rangers would be unable to afford the wonderkid.
Simic is still extremely inexperienced, with just 26 senior competitive appearances under his belt and four goals to his name.
However, the noise around him is very exciting and he looks set to step things up a notch this season, after notching a brace in a recent pre-season friendly win over Dutch outfit Vitesse.
