Rapid Rangers linked Zambia international Fashion Sakala is soon set to make an announcement on his future amid considerable transfer speculation.
The Gers have been linked with the KV Oostende striker for many months, with the Scottish Sun reporting as early as February that they would win the race for his signature on a free transfer.
The speculation died down for a while but has picked up again over the past week and although Steven Gerrard refused to discuss Sakala at a press conference on Friday, the player himself says a deal with a new club has been secured.
“I want to make my choice known after the match against Standard.”
That Jupiler Pro League clash kicks off at 7.45pm on Saturday night, so news could be only a matter of hours away.
It’ll be a tense wait for Rangers fans, given that a number of French and English clubs are also said to be interested in Sakala.
However, there’s plenty of evidence to suggest Bears should be optimistic, as Belgian outlet Walfoot have asserted that the player’s choice will be Ibrox, while he recently followed a number of Rangers first-team players on Instagram – a seemingly strong hint given that he follows less than 200 people on the platform.
Sakala has scored 13 goals and registered three assists in the league this season but hasn’t found the net since February.
It’s possible that the speedy forward could be a replacement for veteran Jermain Defoe, who is out of contract in the summer.
