Rangers are in the market for signings and Djurgardens IF midfielder Hampus Finndell may yet be one name on the Ibrox wish list.

Gers fans are looking for more signings this month with just one new face on board in striker Fabio Silva.

We have seen left back after left back after left back linked of late, but what about another midfielder?

Kieran Dowell is now facing a spell on the sidelines and Philippe Clement was recently left with a real lack of midfield options, prompting Dujon Sterling to play out of position.

Rangers may well look at potential midfield signings this month and Djurgardens IF star Hampus Finndell could be a name to watch…

Hampus Finndell wanted in Scotland – could Rangers be the mystery club?

Fotboll Transfers in Sweden note that Finndell is a player who could leave Swedish football this month.

It’s stated that Nantes, Girona and Çaykur Rizespor all want to sign Finndell whilst unnamed clubs from Belgium, Italy and – crucially – Scotland are in the mix too.

A fee of around SEK 12 millions – approximately £900,000 – is mentioned and few Scottish teams can pay that kind of money.

Rangers and Celtic can certainly afford that with Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian maybe outside contenders.

Would those three clubs really be able to battle La Liga leaders Girona, established Ligue 1 side Nantes or Turkey’s fifth-placed Caykur Rizespor for a signing?

That seems a little unlikely and makes us wonder if the mystery club could be Rangers.

Finndell has racked up more than 100 appearances for Djurgarden, bagging 16 goals along the way.

An accomplished midfielder with an impressive range of passing, Finndell loves to get on the ball in front of his defence and pick out passes to get the attacks flowing.

Primarily a deep-lying playmaker who can also get forward to score goals and with strong work rate in the engine room, Finndell is ready to make the next step in his career away from Sweden.

The 23-year-old now has less than a year left to run on his contract and could be a smart addition to the Rangers midfield ranks without spending a huge fee.

Ryan Jack and John Lundstram are out of contract this summer so adding somebody who can sit in front of the Rangers defence should be a focus.

It’s unclear if Rangers really are interested in Finndell but cheap depth with rela potential is exactly what the Gers should be looking at – and this interest from Scotland means there is a chance an Ibrox move could be in mind.
