Rangers are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen talent Noah Mbamba – just months after Chelsea wanted to land him.

Philippe Clement has been on board for over a month now and all is well for Rangers.

Clement has dropped just two points across all competitions and guided Rangers into the Viaplay Cup final.

The Belgian will still be eyeing January signings though and one of his former players is thought to be on the radar.

Rangers interested in signing Noah Mbamba

The latest name in the mix is Bayer Leverkusen prospect Noah Mbamba.

TEAMtalk report that Rangers are keen to sign Mbamba on loan for the second half of the season.

Mbamba was given his Club Brugge debut at just 16 by Clement, with the Rangers boss clearly seeing his potential.

The 18-year-old left Club Brugge in January of this year, joining Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

Mbamba has only played 13 minutes of league action this season though and may now be available on loan for the second half of the season.

Rangers are thought to be keen and Clement may well be able to land a real coup given the other clubs who have shown an interest…

Chelsea wanted Mbamba earlier this year

Mbamba has been a wanted man for a while, going back to before his Leverkusen switch.

Kicker reported in January that both Chelsea and Crystal Palace were challenging Leverkusen for Mbamba.

Chelsea clearly believed that Mbamba could add to their crop of young talent for the future.

The Blues have invested huge money in signing young players and wanted to add Mbamba to their ranks.

Chelsea missed out though with Mbamba seemingly believing that his development would be better served at Leverkusen.

That hasn’t really worked out yet but Europe’s elite continue to show an interest in Mbamba.

TEAMtalk suggest that Bayern Munich and Manchester City are both interested in Mbamba, but Leverkusen won’t entertain a permanent exit.

Rangers may be ideal for a loan move though and Clement may be able to bring the teenager to Ibrox in a pretty exciting January move.
