Rangers have reportedly had a bid rejected for Swansea star Morgan Whittaker as Michael Beale apparently eyes a Tom Lawrence reunion.

An attacker who can play across the front three, Morgan Whittaker played with Welsh international Tom Lawrence at Derby County before moving to Swansea in the winter window of 2021.

But if Rangers are serious about getting these two back onto the same pitch together then they will need to stump up, with Swansea said to have rejected an initial Ibrox bid for the player.

According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers have bid £900k for Morgan Whittaker but Swansea are holding out for seven-figures and closer to £2m.

This comes after Swansea recalled the 22-year-old English attacker after an explosive first half of the season with Plymouth Argyle, where Whittaker scored nine goals and laid on seven assists in 25 League One games.

The report also claims that Swansea want to sell the player to fund other targets, with several suitors south of the border following Whittaker after his impressive stint with the Pilgrims.

Morgan Whittaker could also provide a solution to the problem right-wing berth at Ibrox, with several players struggling to make the position their own over the last few seasons.

The attacker generally plays off the right but as previously explained can play across the front three, something which would add competition to a static Ibrox frontline.

Michael Beale has been clear that he needs competition in every position and at the moment Fashion Sakala has made the berth his own.

But the likes of summer signing Rabbi Matondo or ex-Aberdeen star Scott Wright have struggled to consistently impress and Rangers are now seemingly looking to Morgan Whittaker to come in and challenge for the spot.

Any switch would also represent something of a reunion with Tom Lawrence, who captained Derby County during Whittaker’s time coming through at the Pride Park club and who moved to Rangers in the summer.

Meanwhile, Spurs remain in the hunt for one Rangers-linked star.
