Rangers pursuit of Abdallah Sima appears to be picking up the pace as Michael Beale looks to land much needed depth to his attack.

The 22-year old Brighton forward has been out on loan for the last two seasons and needs to rediscover the form that saw the Premier League outfit pay Slavia Prague £7m for his services.

Writing on Twitter, Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, who is part of Sky Sports’ Gianluca Di Marzio’s team, has revealed that talks are underway between Rangers and Abdallah Sima.

According to Bendoni:

“Rangers are in talks for Brighton striker Abdallah Sima, as per other outlets. The deal is not agreed yet, but parties are in contact, my source informs.”

Rangers aren’t quite getting desperate but bringing Abdallah Sima in as soon as possible will be a priority for Michael Beale.

Sam Lammers is on board, Kemar Roofe is looking sharper by the day and Antonio Colak has shown that he can score goals if he is given the right service, but the attack needs more quality.

Sima can play centrally, however, he is more likely to be targeted to play in either of the positions behind the striker.

Pace and mobility were two of the key attributes that the Gers gaffer was looking for this summer as he set about replacing Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos and Sima ticks both those boxes.

Beale will be hoping that David Weir, as Brighton’s sporting director, can do us a favour and a loan-to-buy deal would be particularly encouraging.

Rangers signed Borna Barisic off the back of his performances against us for NK Osijek

Abdallah Sima seemed out of our price range after tormenting us for Slavia Prague and yet he could well be returning to grace the stadium where he collected a man of the match award.

Hopefully, a sign of things to come.
