Rangers target James Trafford enjoyed a great day at Wembley on Sunday as he won a trophy with Bolton Wanderers.

The Gers will be assessing a whole host of goalkeepers ahead of the summer transfer window.

Allan McGregor has turned 41 and could leave Ibrox this summer whilst Jon McLaughlin clearly isn’t the long-term answer.

Angus Gunn and Freddie Woodman have been linked of late, but then there is Trafford.

Reports from the Daily Mail back in December suggested that Rangers are eyeing up Manchester City talent Trafford.

The England Under-21 international is currently on loan at Bolton Wanderers, so no January deal was possible.

Rangers may well make their move in the summer though with Trafford enjoying a fine season on loan with Bolton.

The Gers may well have had one eye on Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Bolton took on Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Trophy final at Wembley and coasted home to victory.

Kyle Dempsey, Dion Charles, Elias Kachunga and Gethin Jones were all on the scoresheet in a thumping Wanderers victory.

Trafford kept a clean sheet and was then able to celebrate lifting the trophy in front of the travelling thousands.

Trafford was seen taking selfies with fans after the game, celebrating in style as Bolton enjoyed a big trophy win after a number of testing years.

The 20-year-old is coming towards the end of an 18-month loan spell at Bolton and it could get even better.

Bolton sit fifth in the League One table and will be looking to secure a play-off place in a bid to reach the Championship.

Trafford could end up with two big wins at Wembley by the endow the season with Rangers surely watching his progress.

Prising a talent like Trafford away from City won’t be easy but Rangers must push for a long-term stopper – and Sunday’s success will have surely been on the Gers’ radar.
