As the Rangers transfer news continues to bubble, the latest reports suggest Michael Beale has lined up nine signings to kickstart the club’s rebuild.
The Ibrox manager was clear heading into the upcoming transfer window that big changes were in the offing in south Glasgow with the work already beginning in January.
The transfer of Todd Cantwell was followed by Nicolas Raskin, with these two the first of the Michael Beale Rangers signings with the latest news suggesting there are plenty more to come.
But the early performances of these two players has offered plenty of optimism to supporters that the Rangers boss’ recruitment plan can deliver as they quickly integrate into the side.
Todd Cantwell in particular is fast becoming a hero to the support.
Rangers transfer news: three already in this summer
There have also been three names already announced by the club heading into the new season, with the Rangers boss utilising his contracts south of the border to strike pre-contract deals.
Cantwell’s former Norwich City teammate Kieran Dowell was the first to be announced, the left-footed midfielder a dynamic addition and probably a dark horse to do very well for Rangers next season.
The ex-Everton star was joined by Dujon Sterling not so long afterwards, the versatile Chelsea defender having spent last season on loan at Stoke and impressing in the Championship.
Someone who can play across the defender, even if he’s naturally a right-back by trade, the 23-year-old’s versatility has opened the eyes of fans to a possible formation change.
Then there is Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland, who has big gloves to fill in the shape of Allan McGregor who will be leaving Ibrox at the end of the season.
A former England international who has just spent the season on loan at Man United, Butland has a point to prove and Ibrox is a solid place to do so.
Four other names being strongly linked
Then there are the names Rangers are currently tailing and are yet to announce but who – according to leading newspapers and journalists – are well on their way to Ibrox.
Atalanta striker Sam Lammers appears to be the closest, with reports of an imminent medical to come, whilst former Serie A adversary Cyriel Dessers of Cremonese has also been extensively linked.
There is LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes who looks, for all intents and purposes, about as eager to join Rangers as fans are to see him and the Ecuadorean is another who looks increasingly likely to join.
Finally, there is Nottingham Forest centre-back Jonathan Panzo who might not be imminently set to move to Ibrox but who is someone Rangers reportedly want to bring to the club.
That’s nine names at the centre of Rangers transfer news and at the centre of an overdue Ibrox rebuild fans will be hoping can resurrect the club’s domestic dominance.
