The Glasgow Evening Times reports that Rangers are on the verge of signing Umaro Balde.
The holding midfielder is currently part of the Sporting Lisbon youth system. He’s said to be a highly rated young talent, but the Gers could nab him without having to fork out for a development fee.
It’s said that he’s already undergone a trial with the club, impressing the youth coaches. Therefore, a two-year deal is on the table.

Excitingly, the Gers aren’t done there, either.
The report indicates interest in two more young prospects.
Another midfielder, Albanian, Albert Rachi of Tottenham, is said to be on the radar.
As is Liam Smith of Kilmarnock. However, the Gers could face considerable competition for Smith, considering they are one of a number of clubs to scout him recently, including Manchester City.

It’s great to see the club looking to improve further upon its already outstanding youth system.
The Gers won numerous honours including the Alkass Cup, Scottish Youth Cup, and SPFL Reserve League in the season just past. After the league win, a number of the club’s young stars showed their delight on Twitter.
Now, there’s an intent to add further quality to the ranks. Whether local or European, Rangers are clearly looking to bring in top talent.
