Time is running out if Rangers want to bring in a new winger before the transfer deadline.
In the last two weeks alone, Philippe Clement’s Scottish Premiership hopefuls have been linked with Croatia international Josip Brekalo, Benfica starlet Tiago Gouveia, Egypt ace Ibrahim Adel, Euro 2024 hero Nedim Bajrami, and the wantaway Abu Kamara.
But with the window closing at 11pm on Friday night, Rangers do not appear any closer to landing any of the aforementioned quintet.
Brekalo is likely to stay in Italy, swapping Fiorentina for newly-promoted Venezia.
Benfica are keen to keep Gouveia. The Bajrami links have gone quiet. Couhaib Driouech, another target, is now at PSV Eindhoven.
And Norwich City attacker Kamara appears destined to swap The Canaries for another club in England’s second tier.

Rangers to miss out on Norwich City’s Abu Kamara
Last week, Football Scotland suggested that £2 million might be enough to convince Norwich – who have left him out of their last two matchday squads – to sell.
Kamara had handed in a transfer request, after all, with just one year left on his contract too.
It appears that the former England Under 21 forward will now change hands for more than double that proposed fee, however.
Ambitious Hull City are set to bring Kamara to Humberside for a sum that could rise to £4.5 million with add-ons included, per the Hull Daily Mail. A medical should take place by the close of play on Friday, followed by an official unveiling presuming there are no late hitches.
Kamara, scorer of 10 goals and provider of 11 more during an ‘outstanding’ loan spell at League One champions Portsmouth last season, is one of many right-footed, left-sided forwards reportedly on Rangers’ radar.
Abdallah Sima’s Ibrox return no longer possible
The Gers still have not replaced Abdallah Sima following a superb stint north of the border. Brighton and Hove Albion sold Sima to Brest this week, though the dazzling form of Rabbi Matondo has gone some way to curing the Ibrox fanbase of their disappointment.
“The time has come for me to say goodbye to a club for which I have a lot of affection, for which I took immense pleasure in playing for this club,” Sima said via his official Instagram account, saying a heartfelt goodbye to Rangers.
“It is very difficult to find the words but I would like to thank all the club staff, the staff, my teammates, and especially you, the supporters, who have always been there for me and for the club. It’s you who makes this club so special!
“Thank you also to Michael Beale for giving me the chance to play for this great club, and thank you to Philippe Clement for allowing me to realise my dream of winning a title with this magnificent club.
“Come on Rangers!
