Rangers to kick off week with £2m+ double swoop which raises 19-goal striker hunt doubts

The name Hamza Igamane has sent Rangers fans into overdrive as Philippe Clement looks to add firepower to his squad this summer.

The 21-year-old Moroccan striker has never played outside of his country but it looks increasingly likely like Rangers will be coughing up for his services this summer.

Rangers have lost Kemar Roofe following the expiration of his contract with much criticism reserved for the lacklustre returns of Cyriel Dessers last season.

With Brazilian striker Danilo also sidelined for the majority of the campaign, Rangers are targeting reinforcements in the forward department this summer.

According to the latest, a move for Hamza Igamane is already some way down the line and the striker could be one of two new additions at Ibrox this week.

Igamane one of two imminent Rangers signings

According to the Daily Record, Rangers have struck a £1.7m deal to secure the signing of Hamza Igamane.

The 21-year-old striker currently plies his trade with Moroccan top tier side FAR Rabat and certainly fits the Nils Koppen model of buying young talent with high potential.

A Moroccan U23 international, the forward hit seven goals last season and is all set to jet in for a medical before joining the Gers next week.

And the club are not set to stop there either.

According to the report Aberdeen midfielder and Scotland U21 international Connor Barron also looks set to join Hamza Igamane at Ibrox.

This comes after reports of a ‘strong offer’ from Ibrox last week.

The pre-contract move for Barron could see Rangers hold off interest from a host of clubs including Hellas Verona, Plymouth, Stoke, Cardiff and Swansea.

Rangers would have to agree a fee with Aberdeen over the midfielder or risk the transfer going to a tribunal which will decide how much the Ibrox side will have to pay the Dons.

Aberdeen would be due around £525k from English clubs in training compensation had Barron decided to move down south.

£5m striker swoop in jeopardy?

With Rangers set to splash out north of £2m on another two signings this week will see the club ramp up their summer business.

Rangers have already added Brazilian left-back Jefte, Colombian winger Oscar Cortes and French defender Clinton Nsiala to their ranks this summer.

With the Gers targeting hungry, young players under the age of 24, Nils Koppen’s transfer vision is certainly beginning to come to life.

But the move for Hamza Igamane in particular will have Rangers fans wondering over another potential striker deal.

The Gers had been strongly linked with a £5m move for Rapid Bucharest’s Kosovan striker Albion Rrahmani.

This comes after Nils Koppen met with the 19-goal striker’s representatives at the TransferRoom summit in Mexico last week.

Should Rangers complete a deal for Hamza Igamane, it’ll bring into doubt any interest in Albion Rrahmani and the situation is certainly one to watch.

Rangers fans will just be happy to see their side ramp up their summer business and let’s see if a move for either Igamane or Barron can be completed this week.
