The Scottish Sun reports that Rangers are set to compete with Premier League clubs West Ham and Brighton for the signature of West Brom forward Rayhaan Tulloch.

Amid the global health crisis, the exact parameters of the summer transfer window are as yet undetermined.

However, the Gers have been linked to a host of players in recent days with the squad requiring strengthening if the club are to mount a challenge for silverware across the 2020/21 campaign.

The report claims that the Gers are interested in the 19-year-old forward as they look to add more firepower after struggling for goals in domestic fixtures following the winter break.

Tulloch’s current West Brom deal expires in June but it’s suggested that the Baggies haven’t yet given up hope that he will sign an extension, while both West Ham and Brighton are also interested.

This isn’t the first time the Gers have been linked with the player, either. The Express and Star previously claimed that Rangers approached the player’s agent in January in an attempt to secure a pre-contract deal.

Verdict

Given that Tulloch has only made three senior appearances for West Brom, all coming in the FA Cup, he’s unproven in senior football.

However, he had a very productive Premier League 2 season, netting nine times and registering four assists in 14 appearances.

Those are impressive stats and it’s perhaps surprising that the Baggies have allowed such a promising prospect’s contract to run down.

Rangers need to add quality that will immediately improve the first team this summer but there’s still room for the odd future prospect and given that Tulloch is available for free, he could be brought in as a third or fourth choice attacker, with his versatility and willingness to play out wide an added bonus.
