Rangers have tied down talented midfielder Ben Williamson to a new contract, before immediately sending him out on loan.
Williamson has featured regularly for the Gers B team this season and has been rewarded for his performances with a bumper new deal.

One-year extensions are commonplace for Academy players, but the club confirmed via the Rangers Youth Academy Twitter on Wednesday afternoon that the 19-year-old has signed a lengthy deal that will take him through to the summer of 2022.
It’s a big showing of confidence in a player who helped the Gers win the Youth Cup in 2019.
Williamson won’t be turning out for any Academy sides between now and the end of the season, though, as he’s been snapped up by Championship club Arbroath on a loan deal.
Dick Campbell’s side are currently bottom of the second-tier table with just one win and five points from their ten league fixtures so far this season.
However, when announcing the arrival of Williamson – who they lauded for his strength and passing ability – the Red Lichties teased that he would likely be one of several January signings as they bid to make a move up the table in early 2021.
Williamson is set to go straight into the Arbroath squad for their trip to Queen of the South on Saturday, where he will come up against fellow Gers loanee James Maxwell.
Many other Ibrox prospects won’t be playing this weekend, though, after being left in limbo by a big SFA decision.
