Ryan Kent’s future remains uncertain after yet another Merseyside snub.
Steven Gerrard has made no secret of his desire to bring the 22-year-old back to Ibrox this summer [Daily Express]. It’s a saga that began before the last ball of the 2018/19 season was kicked and is still rumbling on less than a week before Scotland’s transfer deadline day.

Rangers target Kent in bizarre situation
On Monday evening, he was once again omitted from the Liverpool U23s team who took on Southampton.
The likes of Rhian Brewster and Curtis Jones featured in the 4-2 win, but Kent was neither in the XI nor on the bench.
Considering he hasn’t been included in any of Jurgen Klopp’s senior squads since the end of pre-season, either, the winger is very much stuck in Anfield limbo.
As we all know, he will not be moving to elsewhere in England this summer. The window for Premier League and Championship clubs closed some time ago. Only European clubs, including those in Scotland, can offer him an escape route.
For that reason, some Rangers fans and quite possibly Steven Gerrard, are still hopeful that Kent may rejoin.

Reports suggest that Liverpool will not part with their asset again unless a fee is involved in some way [Daily Record].
Yet, surely sense will eventually prevail here on their part. If deadline day arrives and there are no bids from elsewhere on the table, surely a loan is the best option for all parties.
If Kent sits around until January excluded from all football, his value will depreciate. Sending him to Ibrox, even for six months, with the intention of bringing him back for the winter window, would help out all involved.

Rangers have started the season well and don’t absolutely need him. They have multiple options on the left and with six goals and six assists last season, he didn’t actually tear up the league in terms of tangible contributions.
Yet, he’s got that X-Factor that would bring an extra dimension to Gerrard’s already strong-looking squad.
The priority from here on in has to be keeping hold of major assets like Alfredo Morelos. If Rangers can do that, move on some out of favour stars and sneak Kent in the door, it would have to go down as a remarkably successful summer.
