Rangers defender Leon King has decided to stay at Ibrox despite considering his options for a move away from the club.

We have experienced a fairly quiet deadline day so far, from a Rangers perspective anyway.

Whilst there have been rumours surrounding Leicester City defender Harry Souttar, there has been no progress so far today.

The window may well close with no more incomings for Rangers and even one departure is falling by the wayside.

Defender Leon King was expected to leave Rangers on loan with a move down to England on the cards.

Transfer insider Dean Jones told Give Me Sport that Michael Beale’s former club Queens Park Rangers were chasing a loan move.

Experience away from Rangers could have been huge for King but it looks like he won’t be leaving Glasgow after all…

Leon King poised to stay at Rangers

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph now reports that King is ‘set to stay’ at Rangers beyond the transfer deadline.

It’s claimed that King did consider potential opportunities elsewhere but has pulled a U-turn and decided to stay put at Rangers.

The 19-year-old played 23 first-team games last season and has recently returned from injury.

King may well fancy his chances of playing regularly for Rangers this season but he faces stern competition.

Connor Goldson, John Souttar, Leon Balogun and Ben Davies are all in the mix at Ibrox as things stand.

King staying may well scupper a move for Harry Souttar though, with Rangers surely unlikely to bring in another defender if King is sticking around.
