Talented Rangers supporting midfielder Charlie Gilmour has reportedly joined Premiership club St Johnstone on loan, three months after leaving Norwich City [Scottish Sun].
Defensive midfielder Gilmour began his career at Arsenal, coming up through the ranks and making his first-team debut in the Europa League in 2018.

He was released after 14 years with the Gunners the following June, though, and joined then Premier League side Norwich on a two-year deal.
Yet, the Scotland youth international failed to break into the Canaries XI and his contract was terminated by mutual consent in October 2020, following a productive 2019/20 loan spell with Dutch second division side Telstar.
Gilmour has made no secret of his love for Rangers, with the player celebrating the Gers’ October Old Firm triumph on Twitter, and some supporters urged him to move to Ibrox following his release by Arsenal in 2019.
Yet, he remains inexperienced in senior football and his three-month stint as a free agent suggests not only that the Gers weren’t prepared to take a gamble on him, but that it was hard for him to find any suitable club.

Now, though, the Scottish Sun reports that St Johnstone have handed him an opportunity to revive his career.
Saints manager Callum Davidson will assess the player before deciding whether or not to offer him a deal.
Should the trial go well, Gilmour could turn out against the club he supports in the near future, with Rangers set to face St Johnstone at Ibrox at the beginning of February.
Meanwhile, a Rangers transfer ploy has paid off yet again as a Gers loanee helped deal another major title blow to Celtic.
