Rangers have struck a deal with ex-Celtic scout John Park to come into the Ibrox side in a senior scouting role.
According to Sky Sports, the 64-year-old will join up with Rangers this season having spent the last campaign working with Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship.
John Park spent nine years at Celtic between 2007 and 2016 and oversaw the club’s begrudgingly successful transfer operations in this period.
The scout only left the Parkhead side when Brendan Rodgers took charge in 2016 and wanted his own man in Lee Congerton in charge of recruitment.
Nonetheless, Park was regarded as a hugely influential staffer at Celtic during his time there and the Rangers move has caused a bit of friction in their support.
Rangers bound John Park a key player in series of Celtic transfer successes
The report also credits Park as being the mastermind behind a series of high-profile signings which include Victor Wanyama, Virgil van Dijk and Moussa Dembele.
All three made Celtic substantial profits with a combined £40.5m being raked in in transfer fees for this trio alone (Wanyama £12.5m, VVD £13m [both Southampton], Dembele £20m [Lyon]).
However, it wasn’t always smiles, rainbows and fat cheques with John Park at Celtic as shown by this excellent Andrew Caskie graphic.
Whilst the income made on several of Celtic’s key players during this period was impressive, there were also a series of failed signings into the club.
Celtic also sustained sizeable losses surrounding a series of first teamers such as Derek Boeriggter, Mohamed Bangura and Amido Balde.
But nonetheless, the move has been lauded by Rangers fans who will hope to see John Park use his expertise to identify a series of talents who can be moved on from Ibrox for big money.
The move for John Park is also not said to be related to the exit of another key Rangers scout, who is preparing a move to the Premier League.
