The chase for George Edmundson’s signature is not over, says Peterborough United chairman, Darragh MacAnthony.
He posted on on Twitter on Tuesday morning to dispute claims his club had had a bid accepted by Oldham Athletic for the defender.
Football Insider had claimed in an ‘exclusive’ that Posh had met the Latic’s valuation. However, these comments expose that story as incorrect.
MacAnthony has also suggested that Peterborough will conduct no transfer business for several weeks, as he’s going on holiday.
It’s good news for Rangers that this story has been rubbished.
It seems that although a host of clubs have been linked with Edmundson, no one has as yet given into Oldham’s demands.
After several rejected bid, the Daily Record reports that the Gers are considering upping the ante to £1 million.
We’re now a month away from Rangers’ first Europa League qualifying assignment. Therefore, the manager will want to make additions as swiftly as possible in order to give them time to settle in.
As it stands, Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic are the club’s only two senior centre-backs.
With Peterborough seemingly not in the running, Edmundson could still become the third.
