Rangers star wanted by Sampdoria and Sevilla, reports claim

Rangers star Ianis Hagi has found game time at Ibrox hard to come by recently – and the Romanian maestro could have a way out if he wants to cut short his stay in Glasgow with reports naming Sevilla, Sampdoria and Istanbul Basaksehir among the clubs reportedly chasing the 22-year-old.

Hagi only made his move to Ibrox permanent over the summer but his slipped down the pecking order recently, losing his place in the side to Kemar Roofe.

According to the reports, Hagi could have an escape route with Sampdoria boss Claudio Ranieri  a fan of the Rangers star and Sevilla, New York City FC, Toronto FC and Cagliari also taking an interest [Clubdoria].

Hagi scored in the 2-0 win over Lech Poznan on Thursday night and has clearly been lacking in confidence in the last few months – despite having more assists in the Premiership than anyone other than James Tavernier.

If Hagi was to be sold, which seems pretty unlikely just now, the Gers would hope to at least recoup what was spent to lure him to Glasgow permanently in the summer.

The Romania international has eight assists and two goals to his name but, barring a huge offer, it wouldn’t make much sense to sell Hagi just now, even if his form has dipped lately.

Getting his confidence back and getting to sort of performances we’ve seen from him already in a blue shirt is far more important long-term and, if Rangers can get him back to his best, there will be far more – and far bigger – offers for him in the future.

In other transfer news, Rangers and Celtic are reportedly keeping tabs on a 20-year-old winger who has impressed in the SPFL this season
