One-time top Rangers talent Josh McPake has been linked with a move to Championship Raith Rovers amid claims he is exit-bound at Ibrox.
Reports emerged this week that McPake – who is currently on loan at Tranmere Rovers – has no future at Rangers with the club considering ripping up his contract.

Signing in the summer, Josh McPake is contracted to Rangers until the summer of 2024 with Football Scotland claiming attitude issues are at the centre of the attacker’s problems.
Now, Football Insider are claiming that managerless Raith Rovers could be a possible destination despite having no permanent manager at the helm.
This comes after the club announced that current boss John McGlynn would step down after his second stint at the Stark’s Park after guiding them to two promotions and two Challenge Cups.
FI reiterate the early claims that Josh McPake is surplus to requirements at Ibrox and suggest that Raith Rovers have been “alerted” to the situation.
Josh McPake could hook up with Kevin Thomson at Raith Rovers
Interestingly, if McPake does make the move then the attacking midfielder turned winger could wind up playing under ex-Rangers star Kevin Thomson.
After announcing the exit of John McGlynn and assistant Paul Smith, Raith Rovers took the very unorthodox decision to publicly appeal for a new manager.
This has led to plenty of conjecture regarding who that might be with the Scottish Daily Express naming Kelty Hearts boss Kevin Thomson amongst the frontrunners.
After guiding Kelty to the League Two title Thommo is said to be in contention alongside ex-Dundee boss James McPake and ex-Raith player/Clyde boss Danny Lennon.
As for Josh McPake, it’s an interesting fall from grace of sorts from being one of the club’s most highly-rated young talents to having a contract torn up with two years to run.
Whatever the case, we don’t expect much movement on this until the summer but if Josh McPake would be lingering around the Rangers Training Centre with a bad attitude maybe an exit is for the best.
The youngster has also had loan stints at Dundee, Greenock Morton and Harrogate Town and unless things turn around rapidly it appears he’s on his way out of Rangers.
Meanwhile, tributes aplenty continue to flood in in honour of legendary Rangers kitman Jimmy Bell after his sad passing at the age of 69.
