There is some confusion surrounding exit reports and Rangers attacker Fashion Sakala as club legend Lionel Charbonnier chimes in with claims he could be Auxerre-bound.

The Zambian international forward, 25, joined Rangers last season after an impressive season in Belgium with KV Oostende and made a solid impression on the Ibrox first-team.

An infectiously positive character, Fashion Sakala is also very popular amongst the Rangers fans and opened his Ibrox account with a noble 12 goals and seven assists in his first campaign.

But despite this – and the all the stattos suggesting Sakala is a solid option for Rangers – there had been rumours that the forward is exit-bound after one year in Glasgow.

This is after the forward missed the weekend’s 2-1 win over Blackpool.

Leading fan media Heart & Hand quickly moved to dispel these rumours, suggesting Fashion Sakala instead missed the match through injury.

Definitively, they claim the forward is “not leaving”.

“Update on Fashion Sakala – has a very slight knock so wasn’t risked,” tweets David Edgar [Heart & Hand].

“He is not leaving.”

Ex-Rangers keeper Lionel Charbonnier suggests Fashion Sakala Auxerre-bound

But ex-Ibrox goalkeeper Lionel Charbonnier has moved to reignite those exit fears by suggesting a little birdy told him in France that the Zambian could be set for a move to Ligue 1 Auxerre.

The former France international stopper took to Twitter to suggest that someone told him that Rangers star Fashion Sakala could be set for a move to Auxerre.

“Sakala from Rangers is coming to AJ Auxerre,” initially tweeted the ex-keeper.

However, Lionel Charbonnier would later move to confirm that the situation is not “100%” and that is was only something that he’d heard.

“Not (100 per cent) yet,” said Charbonnier.

“Just heard about this. Nothing done.”

It’s obviously from a solid enough source to have the former Auxerre and Lausanne stopper Tweeting.

Rangers fans will surely be split if Fashion Sakala leaves and from where we sit there is no real reason for the Zambian international to go.

A popular player who clearly loves it at Ibrox, there is still room for Sakala to grow here and something tells us Fashion’s Rangers story isn’t quite finished yet.

Meanwhile, one young player linked to Rangers appears to have turned down the opportunity to move to Celtic, according to reports.
