Rangers striker, Alfredo Morelos, appears to have hinted at an imminent transfer decision whilst on international duty with Colombia, as quoted by the Daily Record.

The Gers star was repeatedly linked with a move to Lille during the summer, following an initial report from Sky Sports in July that claimed he had agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 club. Yet, transfer deadline day came and went on Monday without a deal being completed.

Clubs in Qatar are still able to do business up until 25 October, though, and 2019-20 Stars League champions, Al Duhail, are reportedly interested in the striker [Daily Record].

El Bufalo is currently with the Colombia squad ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Chile and when asked about his situation, his response was cryptic.

“I am very happy for this beautiful opportunity,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record. “Now, I’ll take advantage of my time here.”

“At the moment I’m thinking of the Colombian national team and whatever comes to Rangers I will decide in the coming days.”

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos makes cryptic comment on Colombia duty – Verdict

Following Monday’s deadline, most Rangers fans would have thought that the speculation around Morelos was over, at least until January.

However, the 24-year-old’s response here does hint that there’s a chance his short-term future hasn’t yet been decided.

Morelos has looked more like his old self on the pitch in recent times and his record so far this season of five goals in 11 appearances is decent if not spectacular.

But with an Old Firm clash looming, Steven Gerrard needs full focus from his players and if El Bufalo‘s head is elsewhere, Cedric Itten could be handed the opportunity to lead the line at Celtic Park.
