As Rangers hunt for a new striker, the club should look not further than Scotland international Che Adams following Southampton’s Premier League relegation.
Entering the final year of his contract at St Mary’s, there’s a reason the Saints splurged a reported £15m to make the signing from Birmingham City four years ago and now the 26-year-old is at a crossroads.
A mobile, robust, tireless striker who has a mean strike of the ball and who knows where the back of the net is, Che Adams can be that imposing number 9 the Ibrox side have lacked ever since Alfredo Morelos chucked it.
The club need someone who can dust off the dross in the Scottish Premiership and who can lead the line on European soil and really Che Adams strikes us as a top option should Rangers find the funds.
Relegation is set to cost Southampton a reported £88.7m and that financial and wage gap will need to plugged somewhere as they look to wrestle their way out of the Championship.

It’s not an easy league to bounce back from, as plenty have found out in the past, and perhaps Che Adams could hunt for fresh opportunities as he looks to make his mark on the game.
Whilst the striker only has five Premier League goals this season, it’s been a dire campaign for the Saints and Rangers represent an altogether different option.
Now the bonafide number one Scotland striker, Che Adams is 23 caps and six goals deep for the country and will know all too well the expectations at Ibrox.
However, if Rangers are to make the move, then the forward will have to take a wage cut from the reported £52k per week salary that he earns on the South Coast.
Rangers offer a unique shot at glory – as Che Adams’ Southampton teammate Joe Aribo knows all too well – and given the club’s relegation perhaps he can be convinced that his future lies in Glasgow.
